Imagine living every moment with the haunting knowledge that you or your loved ones could be next. For animals in the wild, this is not a hypothetical fear—it is their daily reality. Every rustle of leaves, every echo of a gunshot signals potential loss, grief, and a relentless fight for survival. When an animal hears the crack of a rifle, it knows that somewhere, a life has been stolen—perhaps a mate, a child, or a companion.
This blog explores the chilling perspective of the hunted and asks an uncomfortable but necessary question: What would it feel like to be in their place? To bring this experience to life, we envision an innovative art installation—a mirrored target cutout placed in public spaces. As people walk by, they see their own reflection in the sniper’s scope, momentarily stepping into the vulnerable position of the hunted.
This interaction is more than a visual experience—it’s a moment of empathy and introspection. By placing yourself on the target, you are invited to feel the fear, uncertainty, and fragility that define the lives of countless animals under threat. Through this blend of art, emotion, and advocacy, we hope to foster a deeper connection to the natural world and inspire meaningful action to protect its most vulnerable inhabitants.
At Kalpa Vigraha, we bring this harrowing experience to life through the Molai Collection, a series of sculptural bowls and plates featuring motifs of endangered Indian animals in 'Pacchikari' craft from Agra. Each piece tells a story of survival, heartbreak, and resilience, inviting you to reflect on their fragile existence.
